Haverhill city councilors had high praise last night for a Haverhill business that has shifted gears to help the medical community in its fight against the coronavirus.

CreatorPult, a 3D printing and laser cutting business at 143 Essex St., has, until recently, served community members interested in new forms of creative expression. It is now focused on creating masks and face shields for local area medical professionals. Owner Chris White told members of the City Council his firm is running 15 3D printers and have produced nearly 400 medical masks so far. In fact, he says, they have been running equipment non-stop for the past nine days. Machines have been turned off briefly only for maintenance and to give staff time to assess their material inventory.

“Because for the first six days that we were making masks, we didn’t have any of the materials we needed other than the plastics and then by the time we started getting donations of elastic and weather stripping and filters, we started running out of plastic,” he said.

White says he is gratified the community stepped up in a big way—donating money and materials to help keep the project moving forward. He adds he is committed to providing masks at no cost to agencies that need them—not only doctors and nurses, but first responders and police as well. To that end, his company has set up a GoFundMe.com page and a materials wish list on Amazon.com for anyone interested in helping out. Both can be found by visiting the company’s webpage at creatorpult3d.com.
