Today’s Obituaries—March 27: Howell, Platine

Jean M. (Rossiter) Howell, 93, died peacefully March 23, at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center. Born in Carbonear, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Vaters) Rossiter and lived in Leesburg, Fla., for 33 years and Lynnfield before moving to Haverhill. Arrangements under the direction of Dole, Childs and Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main St., Haverhill are private.

Elizabeth Ellen (Wood) Platine, 89, died Sunday, March 22 in Haverhill, just across the Merrimack River from Groveland and her childhood home where she was born on July 8,1930 to Ralph and Marion Wood. She graduated from Groveland High School with honors. She lived in India, Taiwan, Germany, Iran, Greece and Zaire. Places where she was not only the ever-curious tourist, but also took on various roles such as, Girl Scout Leader, hospital volunteer, teachers aid and librarian. She worked 17 years as the facility’s services assistant at Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport. At the family’s request, services will be private. Arrangements are by H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Bradford and Haverhill.
