The Haverhill Cultural Council has awarded more than $38,000 to local artists and nonprofit groups to present nearly 30 events.
New programs such as “A Cultural and Historical Reflection of the 1960s,” proposed by Francis Hart, and “Sights and Sounds of Latin America” by Colombian Cultural Committee of the Merrimack Valley were among those receiving grants.
The largest grants, ranging between $2,000 and $3,000 each, were awarded to pay for such new events as the “Mount Washington Artist Alley” to old favorites such as the annual downtown Christmas Stroll and River Ruckus.
The Haverhill Cultural Council plans to preview some of the events and artists at a planned Grant Recipient Reception, Wednesday, May 20, 7 p.m., at Haverhill Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St., Haverhill. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, email [email protected].
