It’s possible for students to receive an excellent four-year education and receive a bachelor’s degree all for less than some universities charge a year.
Appearing on 97.9 WHAV FM this week, Northern Essex Community College President Lane A. Glenn explains the college has prepared a “roadmap,” showing the way for a quality education at relatively affordable prices.
“The short version of all this is come talk to us and we can show you how you can get a bachelor’s degree for significantly less than $30,000—the entire thing,” he said.
Lane explained the Northern Essex road map begins while students are still in high school. There, they can enroll in Early College and receive college credits while juniors and seniors. Those credits are added to totals when later enrolled at Northern Essex. Students and their families may also be eligible for state MassGrant and MassGrant Plus scholarships. Finally, the Commonwealth Commitment helps those transferring to four-year state colleges and universities.
More than 500 area high school students participate in the Early College program—many coming from Haverhill, Lawrence and Amesbury.
Partnerships with Regis College and Cambridge College on Northern Essex’s Lawrence campus and UMass Lowell on the Haverhill campus, Glenn said, also provide convenience and discounts. He said it’s “easy, accessible and affordable.”
