A 19-year-old Haverhill man was taken to the hospital Saturday morning after crashing his sport utility vehicle into a Groveland home.
Groveland Police Chief Jeffrey T. Gillen and Fire Chief Robert Valentine did not name the Haverhill teen, but said he was trapped inside a Ford Explorer and had to be removed by firefighters with the use of hydraulic tools. He was believed to have non-life-threatening injuries. An unidentified resident of the home was also treated at the scene, but declined to be taken to the hospital.
“The driver of the Ford Explorer was extricated within 10 minutes due to the incredible teamwork between Haverhill Rescue 1; Groveland Police, led by Sgt. Riley; and the Groveland Fire Department,” said Valentine.
The accident was reported just before 10 a.m. after a 911 call notified first responder a car had crashed into a home at 28 School St., Groveland. Police and firefighters found the Ford Explorer in the side of the house. “The house sustained significant damage, but was not rendered structurally unstable.,” according to the statement from Gillen and Valentine.
The vehicle was towed from the scene and the Haverhill Fire Department provided mutual aid.
