Public Meetings This Week: Haverhill Schools’ Finance Committee Studies Budget Priorities

The public has opportunities to shape policy this week as various Haverhill boards meet. In the interest of transparency in government, WHAV provides this list of upcoming meetings every week.

Late Update: The Haverhill School Committee will no longer sit it on Superintendent Margaret Marotta’s Instructional Leadership meeting tomorrow, It will still meet Wednesday.

It’s a busy week for the Haverhill School Committee’s Finance Subcommittee as it sits in on a meeting with school leaders Tuesday and readies for budget planning Wednesday.

Subcommittee members will listen at Superintendent Margaret Marotta’s Instructional Leadership meeting Tuesday, March 3, 9:30 a.m., in school offices, room 104, Haverhill City Hall. Committee Chairman Paul A. Magliocchetti said, in a meeting notice, members plan to gather information on budget priorities from the school leadership team.

On Wednesday, the Finance Subcommittee holds its regular meeting to discuss principal and department head meetings, upcoming Student Opportunity Act forums, a state of the schools address and budget timeline at 3 p.m., school department offices, room 104, Haverhill City Hall.

Haverhill Board of Assessors meets for its regular weekly meeting Tuesday, March 3, 9 a.m., in room 115, Haverhill City Hall, 4 Summer St.

Wednesday, March 4

Haverhill Special Education Parent Advisory Council meets Wednesday, March 4, 6 p.m., at Haverhill High School’s main conference room, 137 Monument St.

Haverhill Vietnam Veterans Memorial Ad Hoc Commission reviews such fundraising activities as its spring raffle, Speak Easy and golf tournament during a meeting Wednesday, March 4, 6 p.m., in the Haverhill City Council office, room 24, Haverhill City Hall.

Thursday, March 5

Haverhill School Committee Negotiating Team for Administrators meets behind closed doors to negotiate with the schools’ Administrative and Supervisory Group, Thursday, March 5, 4:30 p.m., school administration conference room, room 104, Haverhill City Hall.

Haverhill’s Community Affairs Advisory Board continues ranking proposals submitted by various individuals and groups to spend about $1 million in federal Community Development Block Grant money expected next fall. The Board meets at 6 p.m., in a location to be announced.

Haverhill Conservation Commission hears updates on the new Merrimack River District Commission and the riverfront restoration project along Water Street, at its regular meeting Thursday, March 5, 7:15 p.m., Haverhill City Hall, room 301.
