Today’s Obituaries—Feb. 24: Jablonski, Pingree, Zaikowski

Christine M. Jablonski, 66, died Tuesday, Feb. 18. She was the daughter of Lieselotte and Zygfryd Jablonski who immigrated from Germany and Poland. Born in Lowell, she resided there until moving to Haverhill in 2001. Her nursing career encompassed her whole working life of more than 45 years. She was an infection control nurse at the time of her death, rising to become an advance practice infection control and prevention professional. She obtained a Master of Science in Nursing to work as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, qualifying for her DEA license. She taught in the Nursing department at UMass, Lowell. She leaves behind her wife of 16 years, partner of 27 years, Linda Lankowski, with whom they shared the joys of owning their beloved 1920 Bungalow. Calling hours are Friday, Feb. 28, from 5-8 p.m., at H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. A funeral service takes place Saturday Feb. 29, at noon at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Haverhill, 15 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill.

Frank P. Pingree Jr., 89, of Bradford, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, at High Pointe House, Haverhill. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Pingree graduated from the former Haverhill Trade School, class of 1948. After graduation he was employed as a pattern maker for the Lawrence J. Ewing Shoe Company until enlisting in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. While in the Air Force he attained the rank of staff sergeant and earned a U.N. Service Medal, Korean War Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, National Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Upon being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he went back to Ewing Shoe until the mid-1970s. For more than 20 years he was employed as a plumber for the City of Haverhill Public Property Department, from where he retired after 20 years of employment. His visitation is Monday morning, Feb. 24, from 10-11:30, at H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Bradford, followed by a funeral service at 11:45 at the funeral home. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.

Linda S. (Fasulo) Zaikowski, 65, of Haverhill, formerly of Sandown, N.H., died Friday, Febr., 21, 2 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, after complications from a stroke. Born and raised in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Fasulo and Suzanne (Pazzanese) Bartolo and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1972. After high school she went to work at Bell Atlantic, starting out as an operator. She advanced through the ranks and retired as a department supervisor from what had now become Verizon. Calling hours are Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 4-7 p.m., at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, N.H. Her funeral service will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 10:30 a.m. Burial is in the spring at Sandown Center Cemetery.
