Today’s Obituaries—Feb. 19: Curtin, Garrett

Katherine “Kay” (Dekeon) Curtin, 91, died Feb. 16, surrounded by her family. She was born in Haverhill, Sep. 23, 1928, daughter of the late Xenofon and Florence (Kokkales) Dekeon. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, William J. Curtin. She was educated in the Haverhill school system and earned her hairdresser’s license from Fazio’s in Lawrence. Curtin was a self-employed hairdresser for more than 52 years and proudly owned Kay’s Beauty Salon, which she operated out of her home. Calling hours are Thursday, Feb. 20, from 4-7 p.m. at H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her funeral service is Friday morning, beginning at 9, at the Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Sacred Heart’s Church, Bradford. Burial is in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.

Keith M. Garrett, 64, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died peacefully Monday, Feb. 17, surrounded by family, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. He was educated in the Haverhill School System and attended Haverhill High School. He was employed as an engineer at United Foam Plastic of Newburyport and Georgetown. At work, as well as at home with family, Garrett was affectionately known as “The Chief.” Calling hours are Thursday, Feb. 20, from 5-8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. His funeral begins Friday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill. Cremation will follow services.
