Although it is already mid-February, the Haverhill School Committee is still in the process of hammering out a set of goals for the current school year for Superintendent Margaret Marotta.

Committee members submitted multiple plans but have not been able to reach a consensus on what those goals should include.  However, as agreed last Thursday night, they are getting closer.

A revised copy of goals was distributed—a plan committee member Toni Sapienza Donais said is very close to being finished.

“I think that we’re at like 99.99% agreement on the board with the wording as it currently stands. I think that the one piece that is missing from this is, I believe, meeting with the superintendent for her input on it,” Donais said.

The rest of the committee agreed and said a subcommittee will meet with Marotta sometime in the next two weeks and they should be able to, finally, put the issue to bed at the next regularly scheduled school committee meeting.

The revised set of goals focuses primarily on academic achievement but also a budget plan, community outreach, teacher training and building maintenance.
