Today’s Obituaries—Jan. 27: Gagnon, Habib, Jones

Robert H. Gagnon, 83, a resident of Plaistow, N.H., for the last 53 years, died Jan. 23, at Exeter Hospital. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in November of 1956, and served honorably until his discharge in 1960 as a CT-3. He was first employed as a manager for Vernon Plastics and later established his own business, New England Lamprint of Lowell, which he owned and operated for several years. He earned a real estate license and also operated Gagnon Real Estate in Plaistow for many years. In his later years, he worked as a security guard at Rockingham Park in Salem, N.H. Gagnon was a member of AmVets Post 147 of Haverhill, Calling hours are Thursday night, Jan. 30, from 6-8 p.m., at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, N.H. Burial with Military Honors will take place in the spring at Plaistow Cemetery.

Claire (Bedard) Habib, 92, of Haverhill passed away Thursday, Jan. 23, at Penacook Place surrounded by her family. Calling hours are Monday, Jan. 27, from 4-7 p.m., at H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Bradford Home, 210 South Main St. (Route 125), Bradford. Her funeral is Tuesday, Jan. 28, beginning at 9 a.m., from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St. Bradford. Interment follows in St. Anthony Cemetery, Methuen.

Robert J. Jones, 83 a resident of Hampstead, N.H., for the past 16 months, died Jan. 23, at his home, following a long illness. He was raised and educated in Haverhill and graduated from the former Haverhill Trade School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 until 1959 and was honorably discharged as an Airman First Class. He worked as a machinist at Northeast Tool and Dye Co. of Haverhill for several years before establishing Jones Builders in Atkinson, N.H. A longtime resident of Atkinson, Jones served as the town’s building inspector for 27 years before his retirement in 2019. He also served the Town of Plaistow as the interim building inspector over the last several years. Calling hours are Wednesday, Jan. 29, from 3-6 p.m., at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, N.H. His funeral follows at 6:15 p.m. in the funeral home. A springtime burial with military honors takes place in Atkinson Cemetery.
