James P. McCarthy, 57, of Haverhill, died peacefully Monday, Jan. 20. He was born in Haverhill on May 31, 1962 and raised in Haverhill. He worked as a draw bridge engineer for MassDOT for more than 10 years and previously worked for Wayne’s Drains in Burlington. He was an assistant coach during his child’s hockey activities from Learn to Skate through Midgets. McCarthy gave back to youth hockey as a board member for the Haverhill Thunder Program. Visiting hours are Sunday, Jan. 26, at Driscoll Funeral Home 309 S. Main St., Haverhill, from 3-7 p.m. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial takes place Monday, 10 a.m., celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main St., Haverhill. Interment follows in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill.
