The Haverhill Exchange Club is accepting applications for its annual Youth of the Year Award—which comes with a $1,000 scholarship—until March 20.

The Youth of the Year Award honors an outstanding student in the community who has exhibited excellence in academics and leadership. The application, available online here, documents a student’s involvement in school sponsored activities, clubs and organizations as well as community service; grade point average and top 10 achievements and/or awards. The application also requires a 200-word essay highlighting the one achievement that they consider to be most outstanding and a 800-1,200 word essay on “How do you intend to serve as an example, now and in the future, of a responsible American Citizen?”

Applications must be postmarked no later than Sunday, March 1. The winner will also have their application submitted for the District and National Youth of the Year Awards and an opportunity to win a $15,000 scholarship.
