The YMCA of the North Shore may be expanding again—this time on the Haverhill campus of Northern Essex Community College.

The college and YMCA are in the early stages of considering a “community center” on the grounds of the Elliott Street campus. College trustees learned recently the Y would raise money for the building, while the college would provide the land. College President Lane A. Glenn told the board Allison Dolan-Wilson, vice president of institutional advancement, and Michael McCarthy, vice president of finance and administration, met with the Haverhill Y’s board of directors to discuss the project.

“This would be a tremendous benefit for our students, and fits nicely with our efforts to raise funds for athletics…”
