Hanukkah Festival of Lights Sunday in Downtown Haverhill

Hanukkah begins at sundown on Sunday and Haverhill officials are expected to be in attendance for the lighting of the community menorah that night in downtown Haverhill.

Hanukkah commemorates the rededication of Second Temple in Jerusalem the during the second century B.C. It is an eight-day celebration, often known as the Festival of Lights.

The lighting takes place at 5 p.m., Sunday, in Washington Square. Hot coffee, donuts and potato Latkes will be served, hosted by Anshe Sholom Chabad of Greater Haverhill.

Methuen celebrated last night with a ceremony at the Methuen Police Department.
