Rabbi Or Zohar Presents Weekend of Music and Learning at Temple Eman-El

Rabbi Or Zohar, a teacher, composer and performer of sacred music and scholar of Jewish thought, is coming to Haverhill’s Temple Emanu-El for a weekend of music and learning Jan. 4 and 5.

Rabbi Zohar leads a musical exploration and discussion of Jewish/Arab relationships in the Galilee, followed by a Havdalah service Saturday, Jan. 4, at 3 p.m. On Sunday, Jan. 5, he presents a program on Kabbalah, beginning with breakfast at 9:30 a.m. and presentation at 10. The Temple is located at 514 Main St., Haverhill.

A donation of $10 per person is suggested for the Sunday program. Those planning to attend are asked to reserve a seat by contacting the Temple office by emailing [email protected] or calling 978-373-3861 by Thursday, Jan. 2. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Zohar is the reform rabbi of the Misgav Regional Council in the Galilee, a musician, and a Jewish scholar. He received his rabbinic ordination from the Jerusalem campus of Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion and has a Master in Jewish Philosophy from Tel Aviv University and a bachelor’s degree in Jewish Thought and Indian Studies from Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Zohar is currently a doctoral student in Kabbalah Studies at Tel Aviv University. He is a composer of contemporary Jewish liturgy. Together with his wife, Feliza, he has released two albums of sacred music and tours regularly in North America, sharing his music, teaching Jewish spirituality and talking about life experiences in Israel.
