Today’s Obituaries—Dec. 16: Boudreau, Gustafson, Nichols

Phillip L. “Lou” Boudreau, 93 of Haverhill, husband of the late Bessie (Billis) Boudreau, died Dec. 12, at the Maplewood Center in Amesbury. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he attended Haverhill Public Schools. A veteran of World War II, he enlisted in 1943 in the U.S. Navy. He attended Nautical Navigation School and served his country aboard the U.S.S. Mink. He was honorably discharged in 1946. A machinist by trade, he was employed at Sweetheart Plastic, Borden Chemical and retired from the Henshel Corporation. A gifted tradesman, he built and sold trailers from his home and helped others with any mechanical problems. Calling hours are Monday, Dec. 16 from 4-7 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services are Tuesday morning at 10 in the funeral home. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Main Street, Groveland.

Frances Sue (Gilmore) Gustafson, 78, formerly of Georgetown and Haverhill, died Dec. 9 at Country Center, Newburyport. She worked as the director of community relations for many area hospitals before retiring in 2003. Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 4-6 p.m., at H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St. (Route. 125) Bradford. Entombment will be private at the Elmwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Bradford.

Easter (Jones) Nichols, 68, of Haverhill, died Dec. 10, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill. She was raised in Kentucky and came to Amesbury at the age of 16. She forged a career at Lewis Shoe in Amesbury, married Richard Nichols, and has one daughter, Julie Quigley. At the family’s request, a private service will be held at the Newburyport Kingdom Hall. Arrangements are by H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Bradford and Haverhill.
