The Haverhill City Council, voted unanimously last night to spend $750,000 from the city’s surplus to pay for a feasibility study of the Dr. Albert B. Consentino middle school on Washington Street.

Mayor James J. Fiorentini told councilors he had received a number of questions as to why the feasibility study is needed.

“This is our admission ticket to be able to get the Consentino School redone, renovated or totally rebuilt,” the mayor said.

The mayor went on to say that the city must perform this study in order to eventually be reimbursed by the state, however that will not happen before July 1, 2021.
