Three area farms were among those honored last week with the 2020 Horse Farm of Distinction award by Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation.
Awards were granted during the Federation’s annual meeting to Hunters Haven Farm, Groveland; Sons of the Wind, Merrimac; and Windrush Farm Therapeutic Equitation, North Andover—among 33 recognized across the state.
Awards recognize Massachusetts horse farms that achieve a level of excellence in overall horse health, farm management and compliance with public safety.
The annual meeting was marked with discussions and workshop on important rules and regulations impacting farmers across the Commonwealth. Those topics included hemp, labor and more. Other topics included bee health, tick management and grants available to assist farmers.
Federation President Mark Amato said, “Attendees today learned how changes to recent rules and regulations could impact them and their businesses, which is important to ensure they stay in compliance.”
