The public has opportunities to shape policy this week as various Haverhill boards meet. In the interest of transparency in government, WHAV provides this list of upcoming meetings every week.
There is movement on repairing, enlarging or replacing Haverhill’s Dr. Albert B. Consentino School.
On Tuesday, Haverhill City Councilors are expected to hear Mayor James J. Fiorentini’s plan to take $750,000 from the city’s $11 million surplus to pay for a state-required feasibility study of the Mount Washington middle school.
The study is one of the first steps in determining the scope of the future project. The state School Building Authority has agreed to paying for most of the plan that emerges.
The Council will also hear Councilor Joseph J. Bevilacqua’s idea to change the body’s rules so that the Council president votes first—rather than last—when a vote is required. (See Separate story.)
The City Council meets at 7 p.m., in the Theodore A. Pelosi Jr. City Council Chambers on the second floor of Haverhill City Hall.

Haverhill Retirement Board hears from its attorney, Michael Sacco, about veteran’s buybacks and other matters at 9 a.m., in room 303, of Haverhill City Hall.
Board of Assessors meets for its regular, Tuesday meeting from 9-10 a.m., in the Assessor’s office, room 115, Haverhill City Hall.
Wednesday, Dec. 11
The Merrimack Valley Planning Commission’s Executive Director Screening Committee goes behind closed doors to review resumes and consider finalists the vacant leadership position, at 9:30 a.m., at the Commission’s offices, 160 Main St., Haverhill, across from City Hall.
Mellow Fellows, which has been awarded a special permit to open a retail marijuana shop at 330 Amesbury Road, will have a second community outreach meeting at 5:30 p.m., at Haverhill Public Library, 99 Main St. The public has an opportunity to ask questions. The second meeting is required since establishments must hear from the public within six months of seeking state permission to operate. The first outreach meeting took place last April, but delays in obtaining a host agreement with the city have kept the company from obtaining state permission. (See separate story.)
Haverhill Planning Board discusses whether to reduce or eliminate performance bonds for Carrington Estates, phases one and two, behind Northpoint Bible College, and Delhaven Estates. The committee meets at 7 p.m., in the Theodore A. Pelosi Jr. City Council Chambers, Haverhill City Hall.
Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School Committee meets for its regular, monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m., at the school, 115 Amesbury Line Road, Haverhill.

Haverhill Public Library Trustees meet at 8:30 a.m., at the library, 99 Main St., Haverhill. Agenda items include an update on the Grad Family Trust.
