A wide variety of local organizations are asking you to remember them on this GivingTuesday—described by founders as “a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.”

Public radio 97.9 WHAV FM, Creative Haverhill for the Cogswell ArtSpace, Emmaus, Haverhill Education Foundation, Merrimack Valley Music and Arts, Ruth’s House, among others, are seeking support. Emmaus, which has operated homeless shelters since 1985, says it again has an added incentive this year.

“This year, Haverhill Bank will again match the first $3,000 donated to Emmaus on #GivingTuesday. Haverhill Bank has been partnering with Emmaus on #GivingTuesday since 2015,” the organization said in a statement.

Haverhill Bank President Thomas L. Mortimer said, “This is our fifth year partnering with Emmaus for their Giving Tuesday campaign and in that time, close to $75,000 has been raised to further Emmaus’ mission of helping those less fortunate rebuild their lives.”

Creative Haverhill said it is more than “80% of the way to our final fundraising goal of $2.5 million” to transform the former Cogswell School on South Main Street into an arts center. The group is seeking to raise $5,000 by the end of the month.

WHAV is giving out bumper stickers and Tom Bergeron membership cards to those who become members as the radio station continues its efforts to sustain local news. WHAV supports all other local charities by providing time on “Community Spotlight,” among other programs, at no charge. There’s more information at WHAV.net.

The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce has also developed a list of local charities online here.
