The Haverhill City Council voted Tuesday to dedicate a portion of Winnekenni Park to the concept of peace and non-violence.

City Council Vice President Thomas J. Sullivan said the area, located just beyond the playground on Route 110, will officially be known as “Meditation Meadow.”

“This is the area of the park that we dedicated a monument last spring, the Haverhill Violence Prevention Coalition Peace Monument. At that time, we discussed making this area known as ‘Meditation Meadow.’ We plan to get some outdoor benches and such to enhance the area as well as do some more cleanup of the area,” Sullivan said.

Councilor Sullivan said that eventually a sign would be erected formally notifying visitors.
