The John Greenleaf Whittier Middle School is getting ready to talk turkey—and needs the Haverhill community to help! The Concord Street school plans to host a free Thanksgiving dinner for students and their families.

Ahead of the Nov. 21 event, a committee of teachers, administrators and support staff—who will cook, serve and clean—have set up a GoFundMe page seeking monetary donations prior to Nov. 14.

“We take pride in our diverse community and large student community and this year, we’d like to do something extra special for them and their families,” the group wrote online. “We have established a committee to organize our First Annual Thanksgiving Feast Celebration as a means to reach out to the families in our community who would otherwise not enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.”

The school is also raising money during the event for fifth grade teacher Ali LaCoste’s husband Kevin, who was paralyzed in an accident last summer, by selling beaded charm bracelets.

To donate to the dinner, visit GoFundMe.com and search “JG Whittier Thanksgiving.” For more information on how to sign up for one of the two dinner sittings, call Tiffany Midolo at 978-374-5782.
