ORIGINAL STORY:

Haverhill’s fire and police departments were called to the area of lower Hilldale Avenue as crews from National Grid worked to investigate a “possible gas leak” in the area.

Just before 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, the Haverhill Fire Department Local 1011 union posted a social media alert notifying residents that crews were on scene and that “lower Hilldale” was closed. Evacuations of some homes and businesses in the area took place.

Police are on scene detouring motorists as roads are closed from Lafayette Square to Lafayette Street, spokesman Capt. Stephen J. Doherty Jr. tells WHAV.
