No injuries or property damage were reported as a result of a Wednesday afternoon shooting in the city’s Mount Washington neighborhood.
Haverhill Police are investigating “multiple shots fired in the area of 294 Washington St.,” said Capt. Stephen J. Doherty Jr. Police responded just before 4 p.m. Police are asking for the public’s help in learning more. The neighborhood has been the scene of various shootings over at least the past three years. Most recently, a 16-year-old juvenile was charged with shooting a man in the face Oct. 13. The youth, found to already be on parole, was arraigned on an armed assault to murder charge in Lawrence Juvenile Court. Nineteen-year-old Edison Manzueta was also charged.
As WHAV reported Sept. 15, police were called for a report of shots fired near 65 Jackson St. Ext. Eighteen-year-old Haverhill resident Brian Grande was taken into custody, along with 19-year-old Nadia Millis from Peabody and 19-year-old Jose Rosado of Providence, R.I. All were charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, possession of a loaded firearm and related charges, Doherty said. Self-described Haverhill gang member Brian Grande allegedly bragged about having his gun out in broad daylight, going so far as to tell a Haverhill Police officer involved in arresting him for the shooting he wished he turned the gun on that officer instead.
