Team Haverhill is getting ready to strike out summer learning loss and make sure all children in the city have books to read at home when the group hosts their “Bowling for Books” fundraiser Saturday, Nov. 2 at Academy Lanes.

Starting at 2 p.m., teams of 4-6 bowlers will bowl one game, with the average score of bowlers being entered as a team score. A trophy will be awarded to the winning team and prizes will be offered to attendees who come dressed as their favorite book character. Best of all, proceeds from the $50 team fee goes straight to purchasing new books for Haverhill children.

Doors for the bowling tournament—presented in conjunction with Haverhill Promise, the Haverhill Public Library and Haverhill Public Schools—open at 1:45 p.m. at Academy Lanes, 275 South Main St., Bradford, with bowling taking place from 2-5 p.m. Entry fee includes bowling, shoes and refreshments for the entire team. Tickets may be purchased online in advance at TeamHaverhill.org.

Can’t make the fundraiser but still want to donate to the book drive? Visit TeamHaverhill.org for more information on how to make a Read & Thrive Book Drive donation online. All money goes to purchase new books selected by Haverhill Public Library staff for Haverhill’s youngest learners, regardless of family income.
