Updated: Methuen Police Identity Pedestrian Killed in Fatal Hit and Run

The victim of Monday night’s hit and run accident in Methuen has been identified as 57-year-old Timothy Lafferty.

Methuen Police and Fire provided aid at the scene after the pedestrian was struck at 8:40 p.m., at 253 Jackson St., but Lafferty succumbed to his injuries.

Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section responded to the scene and identified several pieces of evidence, while Methuen Police were notified of a potential suspect vehicle at a nearby residence, according to a police statement.

“A sedan with front end damage was seized by police as part of the ongoing investigation, and the Methuen Police Patrol and Criminal Investigations Bureau is actively working to identify the individual who was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash,” the statement continued.

Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon is asking residents who live between Ranger Road and Pleasant Valley Street to check their security cameras for a vehicle heading towards Pleasant Valley Street around that time.
