Neighbors on Haverhill’s Washington Street won’t be entirely losing that beloved smell of fresh baked bread, but it’ll be a little less prevalent come Nov. 1 when iconic bakery Fantini closes its thrift store.

On Friday, the family-owed company announced that the shop at 375 Washington St. in Haverhill’s Mount Washington neighborhood would be shuttering as the brand shifted its focus to wholesale.

“We will continue to support donations of breads and rolls for worthy charities and also continue supplying the food pantries throughout the Merrimack Valley,” fifth-generation owners Joe and Robert Fantini said in a statement.

The products will continue to be manufactured at the Fantini factory and sold at locations across New England including Market Basket supermarkets.
