Today’s Obituaries—Oct. 2: Byra, Clark, Darke, Dullea, Gore

Marie V. (Concemi) Byra, age 95, of Haverhill, and formerly of Lawrence, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 29 with her family at her side. Byra worked as a pharmacist at Haverhill’s Mount Washington Pharmacy before retiring from Lawrence General Hospital. Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 3 from 4-7 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. A funeral mass takes place Friday, Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, 300 Haverhill St., Lawrence, with burial to follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Lawrence.

Richard L. Clark, 61, of Haverhill, died in his home on Sept. 23. Born in Lynn, he worked as a software engineer at Peabody’s Analogic Corporation. Arrangements are by Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill.

Katie (Arvanites) Darke, 94, a longtime resident of Groveland, died Oct. 1 at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport. A former civilian employee at Hanscom Air Force Base, Darke served as the office manager for her husband’s dental practice in Groveland. She was also a founding member of the Groveland Garden Club. Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 3 from 4-7 pm at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her funeral is Friday, Oct. 4 beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter St., Haverhill. Burial is in Groveland’s Riverview Cemetery.

Edward F. Dullea Jr., 80, of Georgetown and Wildwood, Fla., died Thursday, Sept. 26 after a lengthy illness. He retired from General Electric as a unit manager for the small aircraft engine department. Calling hours are Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m.-noon at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, with a memorial service to follow at the funeral home. Burial in Lynnfield’s Forest Hill Cemetery is private.

Joanna J. (Rodakis) Gore, 86, a longtime Groveland resident, died peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport surrounded by her family. A daycare provider for over 20 years, Gore was a foster mother to more than 100 children and she enjoyed making ceramics. Her entire life was about children including nine of her own. Calling hours are Monday, Oct. 7 from 10-11 a.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. in Groveland’s Riverview Cemetery.
