The Haverhill Fire Department Local 1011 union is well on their way to filling in their election ballot ahead of the city’s Nov. 5 municipal election. Earlier this month, the union endorsed police officer Dan Trocki as he faces off against incumbent James J. Fiorentini, and now the group is lending their support to both Stavros Dimakis and Joseph Sherlock for City Council.
In social media messages, the union is confident small business owner Dimakis and lifelong Hillie Sherlock will serve the city well.
“Stavros is a local business owner and a great example of the American dream realized. He has been a longtime friend of firefighters and we believe his input on our city’s council will be of benefit to Haverhill,” the union, headed by Tim Carroll, said of Mark’s Deli owner Dimakis.
The 94-member group said Sherlock’s “optimism and enthusiasm” for the city won them over.
“Joe’s keen awareness of the needs of Haverhill show wisdom beyond his years and we are excited to support a candidate who cares so deeply for others and our hometown. We are confident that there are great things in store for Joe,” they said.
Haverhill’s municipal election—during which voters will also cast ballots for School Committee—takes place Tuesday, Nov. 5.
