Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police fanned out across Haverhill’s Acre neighborhood Tuesday afternoon in an effort to locate a man who fled from police after crashing a car with an allegedly stolen license plate, spokesman David Procopio tells WHAV.

State Police headed to Haverhill just before 2 p.m. to assist local officers in pursuing a black Chevy Sonic with a broken taillight on Auburn Street and quickly terminated the pursuit, Procopio said. A short time later, a trooper located the vehicle crashed on Fourth Avenue. State Police patrols, K-9 teams and the helicopter were deployed to search for the suspect to no avail. The entire search lasted approximately ninety minutes, the spokesman said.

The investigation into the incident continues.
