Today’s Obituaries—Sept. 17: Boner, Brokvist, Devlin, Ellis, Hyder

George T. Boner, 87, a 50-year resident of South Groveland, died Friday, Sept. 13 at the Ernest P. Barka Assisted Living Residence in Brentwood, N.H. A Marine veteran who served in the Korean War, Boner was a salesman at Lynn’s George J. Kelly Shoe Polish Company and retired as a security manager for The Ferncroft Towers in Danvers. Active in the Town of Groveland, he was a member the Finance Committee, chairman of the Groveland Recreational Committee and project manager for the construction of the Pines Municipal Complex. Calling hours are Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 10:30 a.m.-noon at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home 210 South Main St., Bradford, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m.. Burial immediately follows in Groveland’s Riverview Cemetery.

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Haverhill reports that longtime church member Diane Brokvist died Sept. 10 surrounded by her family after a battle with cancer. Services will be Saturday, Oct. 5 in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Haverhill, 15 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill. Arrangements by Driscoll Funeral Home, Haverhill.

Daniel J. Devlin, 93, of Boxford and formerly of Charlestown, died peacefully on Sept. 9 surrounded by his family. A recipient of the Navy Good Conduct Medal, Devlin retired from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A private graveside service with military honors will be held at the Ridgewood Cemetery in North Andover. Arrangements are under the direction of Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, N.H.

James Milton Ellis died Sept. 14 at home surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Plymouth, MA on January 1, 1939 to the late Walter L. and Mable (Adams) Ellis. An Army veteran, Ellis lived in Haverhill and worked as a golf pro and club manager at the Exeter Country Club until his semi-retirement. A member of the PGA and the NEPGA, he also taught part-time at Haverhill’s Crystal Springs Golf Course and operated his own business, “The Ideal Spot,” located below his wife’s business, Elaine MacLeod’s School of Dance, selling and trading used furniture and antiques. Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 19 from 5-8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, N.H. His funeral service takes place Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by burial with military honors in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.

Dolores M. (Paciulli) Hyder, 87, of Rye, N.H., died Sept. 13 at her home. Born and raised in Haverhill, she worked as the assistant treasurer for the Arlington Trust Company. Calling hours are Wednesday Sept. 18 from 4-7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St. Her funeral takes place Thursday Sept. 19 beginning at 9 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford.
