Four local Marines—including two from Haverhill—are celebrating their recent graduation from boot camp in Parris Island, S.C., SSgt. Patrick Satkunas tells WHAV.

Taking part in a 13-week training course from May through August, 2019 Haverhill High School grads Michael Roy and Andrew Harrison joined Lawrence’s Esteban Guzman and Newbury’s Levi Strzepek to learn about military history and customs while taking part in traditional fitness and obstacle courses, their recruitment officer said.

“All of the new Marines did a great job at boot camp. Special recognition should be given to PFC Harrison who was the Honor Graduate for his platoon. These four young men are a great representation of Merrimack Valley and all that it offers,” Satkunas told WHAV.

Currently enjoying a 10-day vacation “leave,” the men will soon return to North Carolina’s Camp Geiger School of Infantry to complete additional training exercises before heading to their assigned duty stations.
