A 55-year-old homeless Haverhill man has been arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after police say he caused a scene in the fourth floor stairwell of the Winter Street YMCA Aug. 28.

Haverhill Police Officers Katelyn Tully and Kevin O’Brien responded to 81 Winter St. around 7:15 p.m. to find Adam Matosic “sprawled out on the stairs and yelling,” Capt. Stephen J. Doherty Jr. tells WHAV.

Matosic “appeared to be intoxicated,” Doherty said.

In addition to the disorderly conduct charge, Matosic must also answer to one count of resisting arrest.

Matosic, whose last known address is the 127 How St. Emmaus shelter, was arrested twice in 2015. In January 2015, Haverhill Police took him into custody following a downtown disturbance on Locke Street at 2:30 a.m. and charged him with disorderly conduct. One month later, he faced a judge after being arrested and charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime, attempting to commit a crime and assault and battery.
