A family on Bradford’s Chadwick Road is safe and accounted for after a Sunday night fire rapidly spread from the first floor, prompting what Haverhill Fire Chief William F. Laliberty called an “aggressive” attack given the extreme weekend temperatures.
A 911 call came in for aid at 10:47 p.m. with firefighters sent to 261 Chadwick Road to find all residents out of the four-bedroom, two-bath home by the time the first engine company arrived, Laliberty said.
“Fire crews did a phenomenal job as the fire was quickly knocked down and extinguished by an aggressive fire attack,” Laliberty told WHAV.
A second alarm was struck by Deputy Chief Brown, with mutual aid received by the Methuen, Lawrence, Groveland and Salem, N.H. fire departments. Second alarm departments from Merrimac, North Andover and Georgetown were returned to their home communities once the fire was knocked down. No firefighter injuries were reported.
A joint investigation by local authorities and a team from the State Fire Marshal’s office determined the fire to be accidental and originating from the first-floor family room, Laliberty told WHAV.
