One person has been injured after Haverhill Police tell WHAV multiple shots were fired in the city’s Mount Washington neighborhood late Sunday night, marking the second instance of gunfire in as many days.

No other information was immediately available about Sunday’s shooting, though Haverhill Police spokesman Capt. Stephen J. Doherty Jr. told WHAV the shooting took place on Grove Street. In the city’s Mount Washington neighborhood, the shooting scene sits near Swasey Field and Tilton Elementary School. Traffic to the area remained blocked off as police investigated the shooting.

Unconfirmed social media reports suggest a 17-year-old pregnant teen may have been involved in the incident.

Sunday night’s shooting follows a Friday, July 19 round of gunfire around 10:30 p.m. north of the city’s Acre neighborhood. As WHAV previously reported, multiple shots were fired near residences near 37 Dudley St., though there were no injuries or property damage, Doherty said at the time. Neighbors reported finding more than a dozen spent shells.

Anyone with knowledge of either incident is asked to call Haverhill Police Det. Kyle McCann at 978-373-1212 x1578.
