Multiple gunshots were fired near residences last night off Main Street, but Haverhill Police confirm there were no reports of injuries or property damage.

Police are looking for those responsible and asking for the public’s help, according to Capt. Stephen J. Doherty Jr. He asks that anyone with information to call Detective Kyle McCann at 978-373-1212.

Neighbors reported finding more than a dozen spent shells.

The latest gunfire took place around 10:30 p.m., north of the city’s Acre neighborhood and near 37 Dudley St. During the investigation, police blocked off access to Dudley Street at Main Street. Businesses in the area also closed after the violence.

The general area has seen multiple reports of gun violence in recent years. Three people were shot, each with non-life-threatening injuries, outside 40 Nichols St, during August 2017. Earlier that month, two men were shot by unidentified gunmen driving by in the area of Cedar and Dover Streets and an unidentified man was found with “multiple gunshot wounds” near 21 Pentucket St. Victims were treated at local and Boston hospitals and released.

The month before, two men were shot outside 37 Cedar Street near Fourth Avenue. A 31-year-old Haverhill man was sent to a Boston hospital with serious injuries. The other, a 29-year-old Haverhill man was grazed by a bullet, treated at the scene and released.
