Today’s Obituaries: July 8—Charro, Gardella, Graham, Perkins, Scher

Jeannette M. (Dumont) Charro, 45, died July 2 in Lawrence. Raised and educated in Haverhill, she worked as a limo driver for many years. A funeral service takes place Monday, July 8 at 10 a.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill.

Rodney J. Gardella, 78, of Haverhill, died peacefully Tuesday, July 2 at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley in Haverhill. A United States Navy veteran, Gardella worked for the U.S. Postal Service and Community Action, both in Haverhill. He also owned and operated Long Branch Saloon for 19 years. Visiting hours are planned for Thursday, July 11 from 5-7 p.m. at The Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill. A private graveside takes place at Holy Angels Cemetery in Plaistow, N.H.

Evelyn E. (Meister) Graham, 91, of Amesbury and formerly of Haverhill, died Friday July 5, at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston. An employee of Western Electric and Raytheon until her retirement, Graham was an accomplished ballroom dancer. Calling hours are Wednesday, July 10 from 5-8 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her funeral service takes place Thursday, July 11 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial in Haverhill’s Linwood Cemetery.

Harry B. Perkins, 80, of Groveland, and formerly of Danville, N.H. and Kittery Point, Maine, died at home on Wednesday, July 3. Born in Haverhill, Perkins worked security for AT&T until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Merrimack Valley Racing Pigeon Club, the Merrimack River Watershed Council and the Essex County Greenbelt Association. Arrangements are by Driscoll Funeral Home, Haverhill.

Milton A. Scher, 90, of Boynton Beach, Fla., and formerly of Groveland, died Saturday morning, July 6, at Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers. A Korean War veteran, Scher retired from Western Electric before moving to Florida in 1997. A funeral service takes place Wednesday, July 10 at 11 a.m. in Temple Emanu-El, 514 Main St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Children of Israel Cemetery, Haverhill. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill & Bradford.
