Get those cameras ready! The Merrimack Valley is ready to light up the sky for next week’s Independence Day festivities, with fireworks demonstrations planned in both Haverhill and Methuen, among other cities and towns.

Both displays take place on Wednesday, July 3. Haverhill residents are asked to gather at Riverside Park near Trinity Stadium around 9 p.m., while Methuen’s LOOP is that city’s hub for Fourth of July fun. Mayor James P. Jajuga and the City of Methuen bring a night of events including face painting, concerts and free food starting at 7 p.m. before the fireworks, set to music, launch at 9:30 p.m.

Haverhill’s rain date is July 5, with Methuen planning to postpone until July 7 if weather is an issue. Events are free.
