Haverhill Fire Department Lt. Michael Picard completed an advanced, six-day course on fire investigation at the end of last month.
Picard was one of 23 law enforcement officials from throughout Massachusetts, representing 19 agencies, who completed the program, offered by the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy.
The course focused on investigating fires, including how to determine intent, examine a situation for possible arson, and determine if a criminal act has occurred. The program is longstanding, having been offered for over 20 years.
