State Police Arrest Haverhill Man Allegedly Dealing in 165 Grams of Heroin

A 34-year-old Haverhill man faces heroin trafficking charges after being arrested Thursday night by State Police in Lawrence.

State Police said Julio Valerio, of the Bradford section of city, was found with 165 grams of what is believed to be heroin. He was arrested by Trooper Nicholas Neczypyr after a routine traffic stop just after 7 p.m. The trooper said Valerio initially gave a false name.

Valerio, driving a 2002 Nissan Altima, was also charged with driving after license suspension, subsequent offense; refusing to identify himself; a seat belt violation; driving without a valid inspection sticker and an equipment violation. He was arraigned Friday at Lawrence District Court.
