Haverhill Public Meetings: Week of June 17

The public has opportunities to shape policy this week as various Haverhill boards meet. In the interest of transparency in government, WHAV provides this list of upcoming meetings every week.

Tuesday, June 18

MassHire’s Merrimack Valley Workforce Board meets at 8:15 a.m. in the Mary Kivell Conference Room, 255 Essex St., 4th floor, Lawrence, to discuss budget updates.

Next year’s Haverhill Public Schools’ budget is discussed during an open conference beginning at 5 p.m. in room 204 of City Hall, 4 Summer St., Haverhill.

The Haverhill School Committee holds a special meeting to select the finalist for the assistant superintendent for finance and operations position at 7 p.m. in the superintendent’s conference room of City Hall.

City councilors consider Caroline Pineau’s special permit request for her downtown marijuana shop Stem during Tuesday night’s 7 p.m. meeting in room 202 of City Hall.

Wednesday, June 19

Haverhill’s Traffic and Safety Committee considers a request for a stop sign at Saltonstall Square in the city’s Haverhill Highlands neighborhood, among other agenda items, during a 2 p.m. gathering at the Bailey Boulevard police station.

The Haverhill Historic Commission meets to discuss project updates at 6 p.m. in room 301 of City Hall.

Haverhill’s Cultural Council discusses its grant reception starting at 6:30 p.m. during a meeting held at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St.

The budget for the Public Works and Arts departments will be reviewed during a 7 p.m. conference in room 204 of City Hall.

Thursday, June 20

The Haverhill Public Library’s Board of Trustees meets for a session at 8:30 a.m. in the Whittier room of the Library, 99 Main St.

Negotiations for a successor custodial contract will continue during the Haverhill School Committee Negotiating Team for Custodians meeting at 4 p.m. in City Hall.

There will be a meeting with the city’s financial advisor at 6 p.m. in room 204 of City Hall.

The Haverhill Conservation Commission gathers at 7 p.m. in room 301 of City Hall.

Haverhill’s 2020 budget is reviewed one final time by Mayor James J. Fiorentini and city department heads during a 7 p.m. session in room 204 of City Hall.

The Merrimack Valley Planning Commission’s monthly meeting begins at 7 p.m. at 160 Main St.
