A 32-year-old Haverhill man charged with passing more than 90 fake prescriptions for the controlled substance Adderall at pharmacies in Nashua and Derry, N.H., has pleaded guilty in federal court to fraud and false identity charges, United States Attorney Scott W. Murray said Wednesday.
In May 2018, Theodoros Bahtsevanos used valid Drug Enforcement Administration physician registration numbers with fake signatures when applying for medication fills at New Hampshire pharmacies. At the time of his arrest, he possessed nine fake driver’s licenses from several states using the same picture and unique aliases. He also had a ledger used to track DEA registration numbers, physician’s names and the fake recipients he used to fill the Adderall prescriptions.
“Protecting the integrity of our health care system is a high priority of the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Murray said. “Those who obtain prescription drugs by fraudulent means divert drugs from their intended uses and may contribute to the unlawful drug trade.”
Bahtsevanos will be sentenced for the crime in September.
