Haverhill City Councilor William J. Macek—often called the “dean” of the City Council because he is the city’s longest serving legislator—is the latest elected official to seek re-election.
Macek took out nomination papers Friday. He is a life-long resident and is married to Haverhill native Maria J. (DiPirro) Macek. In a statement, Macek’s campaign said, the candidate is “Always standing up for improvements in education, public safety, public services and Haverhill’s overall quality of life.” According to the statement:
“Bill has a proven track record as an experienced leader and a forward thinker responsible for facilitating and promoting Haverhill’s growth and vibrancy. Macek has played an important part in Haverhill’s recent renaissance, leading to some of the most prosperous years in Haverhill’s history.”
Macek said he prides himself on “serving others and makes it a point to be a leader in constituent and senior services.” He added, he intends to “remain your voice for smart equitable taxation with maximum return value.”
Macek said he plans unveil a number of key initiatives as the campaign unfolds.
The councilor recently took a hiatus from WHAV’s Open Mic Show” to pursue the campaign.
