Haverhill, heed this warning: Paving is set to begin Sunday on the upper Main Street stretch of Route 125 from Hanscom Avenue to Woodrow Avenue starting at 7 p.m. June 2, the Department of Public Works said Thursday.

Expected to run through Monday, June 10, the project is overseen by city contractor Rafferty Grading.

Top layers of asphalt will be removed during the overnight hours starting June 2, followed by several days of the repair and adjustment of road drainage structures during regular business hours. To accommodate the high volume of traffic on Route 125, new surface asphalt will be applied overnight, the DPW said.

All roadwork is weather dependent and residents are asked to contact 311 with questions. Haverhill Police Department detail officers will direct traffic during the construction.
