An 89-year-old man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a single-car accident when his car flipped on Methuen’s Pine Tree Drive, Police Chief Joseph E. Solomon tells WHAV.

The city man, whose name has not yet been released, was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck a sign at the Emerald Pines complex before flipping over.
First responders extricated him from the sunroof of his car, Solomon said.
