Patrick C. Bourgelais, 74, of Merrimac, MA passed away peacefully Monday, May 13, 2019 at his home in Merrimac. At the time of his passing he was surrounded by his loving family. Patrick was born March 31, 1945 in Exeter, NH the son of the late Marie (Bourgelais) Glidden. He was a lifelong resident of Merrimac, MA.

Patrick attended Haverhill Trade School and later worked as an Engineer with Transitron in Wakefield, MA for ten years. He would later be employed as a Production Control Manager with Dynamics Research Corporation in Wilmington, MA for 30 years until his retirement.

In his spare time, Patrick enjoyed computer programming, casino entertainment and photography. In his youth, he enjoyed being on and near the ocean. He loved diving, deep-sea fishing and water skiing. He was an intelligent self-taught man that used his knowledge and ability to build his home in Merrimac where he lived for many years. His grandchildren would refer to his vast knowledge as “an encyclopedia”. More than anything he cherished time with his family and most especially his adoring grandchildren. Patrick enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and supporting their teams.

Patrick is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Judy Bourgelais of Merrimac, MA, two children, Patrick Bourgelais, Jr., of Derry, NH and Crissy Hadley and husband Steven of Merrimac, MA. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Daniel Bourgelais, Bronwyn Hadley and Benjamin Patrick Hadley, one great-grandchild, Zander Bourgelais, three nephews, Philip Bourgelais, Paul Bourgelais and Peter Bourgelais and many friends. He will also be dearly remembered by his large extended family and in-laws. In addition to his mother, Patrick was predeceased by his Step-father, William Glidden and his brother Frederick Bourgelais.

Services are private and in the care of The Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave. Haverhill, MA 01830.
