A sense of nostalgia filled the airwaves during the waning days of radio drama in 1960.
Bob Bailey was nearing the end of his run as Johnny Dollar during September 1960. The series would continue for another two years, but CBS was consolidating its drama productions in New York. Many of the network’s Columbia Square, Hollywood, stars were unwilling or unable to relocate.
The Hollywood stock actors took it upon themselves to have an on-air reunion in Sunday night’s “Five Down Matter.” The unusual episode sends insurance investigator in five different directions as longtime show guests reappear. The cast includes Virginia Gregg, Larry Dobkin, G. Stanley Jones, Harry Bartell, Vic Perrin, John Dehner, Howard MacNear, Marvin Miller, Forrest Lewis and Herb Vigran.
