The city’s upgraded Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Mill Brook Park received its biggest monetary donation to date last week courtesy of the Haverhill Rotary Club, who gifted the group overseeing the renovations a $2,000 check during a recent meeting.

Accepting the gift from Rotary Club President James Smith on behalf of Mayor James J. Fiorentini’s Vietnam Memorial Ad Hoc Memorial Commission was Chairman Ralph Basiliere.

The funds will help the commission continue a second phase of improvements currently underway at the park in the Haverhill Highlands neighborhood near the entrance to Plug Pond. In the works are curbing upgrades, seeding and an ADA-compliant crosswalk, Basiliere said.

The group also accepts donations online via the City of Haverhill website at cityofhaverhill.com.
