Saturday, April 27 is this year’s National Drug Take Back Day, with several Merrimack Valley police stations serving as dedicated drop-off sites from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Residents may dispose of unwanted or expired prescription medication at the following locations this weekend:
Methuen police station, 90 Hampshire St.
Plaistow, N.H. police station, 27 Elm St.
Haverhill police station, 40 Bailey Blvd.
All police stations maintain 24/7 drug disposal boxes outside of the Saturday drop-off window for resident convenience.
This is the seventeenth time in nine years the Drug Enforcement Administration has offered the public an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted prescription drugs. Sites do not accept liquids, needles or sharps, and the service is free and anonymous with no questions asked. Last fall alone, the program yielded nearly 460 tons of prescription drugs nationwide.
