Elwood “Big Woody” Apt Jr., 52, formerly of Salisbury, died March 15 among friends and family. Apt enjoyed a lengthy career in the New England independent wrestling scene, most famous for introducing the “Big Woody Bodyslam Challenge” at Wrestling Star Wars. He also formed Atlantic Pro Wrestling and appeared on “The Jerry Springer Show.” A celebration of his life takes place Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m. at the American Legion, 1314 Main St., Haverhill. Arrangements are by the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill.

Jane (Austin) Mills, 98, of Haverhill, died Thursday, March 14 at Hannah Duston Healthcare in Haverhill. She was active in several local civic groups, including the former Hale Hospital Auxiliary, the Haverhill Girls Scouts, the Haverhill Girls Club, the Womens’ Fellowship and the First Church of Christ in Bradford. Calliing hours are Saturday, March 23 from 2-4 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford. Funeral services and burial in Linwood Cemetery are private and at the convenience of the family.
